DC DEVELOPMENT(S): GEORGETOWN WEST HEATING PLANT PROPOSAL

newbuilding

A lot of times, the only interest we have in developments is the finishing touches – -the breaking ground of a new project or the demolishing and refurbishing of a redevelopment. It goes without saying, though, that those moments are not the whole story. There is a lot of fight that goes on without the rallying cry of public interest to push it forward. The redevelopment I wanted to cover today, of Georgetown’s West Heating Plant, was first brought to the table in 2013. For reference, that’s when Macklemore was singing about Thrift Shops and Miley Cyrus was hell bent on killing her Disney princess image by way of a foam finger. If you’ve buried those memories, you’re not alone, and the point is simple: it’s been a while. DC DEVELOPMENT(S): GEORGETOWN WEST HEATING PLANT PROPOSAL

GEORGETOWN’S PCDP RESEARCHES POTOMAC DOLPHINS

Did you know that there are many dolphins living nearby, in the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay? Researchers from the Potomac-Chesapeake Dolphin Project (PCDP) have set out to better understand them. Dolphins have been sighted in the Potomac as far back as the 1800s and as far north as DC but many people are still unaware of their local presence.   GEORGETOWN’S PCDP RESEARCHES POTOMAC DOLPHINS

BIBIBOP IS COMIN’ AT YOU FACE FIRST!

BRACE YOURSELF – BIBIBOP is taking over!

So Chipotle recently shut down its Southeast Asian restaurant chain, ShopHouse and a new kid on the block is moving in and taking over where Chipotle left off. After Chipotle yanked it’s chains for failing to generate sufficient revenue, BIBIBOP swooped in and bought up the leases to all of the fifteen locations nationwide. We’re not sure if you’ve heard of them – but they’re kind of a big deal. BIBIBOP IS COMIN’ AT YOU FACE FIRST!

DESSERTS IN GEORGETOWN ARE TRES MAGNIFIQUE!

Have you ever wondered just how many macaron vendors Georgetown can support? With the opening of Laduree on M Street last month, another chic patisserie joined a string of others along this ritzy strip of top-of-the-line specialty shops, boutiques and markets.

How do they stack up?

We set out to compare and contrast this tony area’s tres sucre petit fours and pastries on a recent warm Saturday, when the sidewalks were jammed with shoppers young and old (and their dogs). DESSERTS IN GEORGETOWN ARE TRES MAGNIFIQUE!
