Okay, so the weekend is officially in full effect and IMO if you ask me, Friday officially marks the first day of what I personally like to call the “Human Work Week” — or at least until I can find a better and more catchy phrase for it. … WEEKEND HITLIST: APRIL 27 – APRIL 29
Okay, so maybe it’s not necessarily summer as of yet — but a girl can dream can’t she!? Plus that GIF of Stewie from Family Guy just made me chuckle so I had to choose it for this despite it’s fairly loose relevence.
Trust me, you’re happy. You know you like it!
Alas — I digress, the spring/summer hybrid is officially in full swing. I know this because I put on my parka to go outside to walk my dog and was met with a bunch of hipsters dressed in shorts, boat shoes and Raybans.
Needless to say I immediately regressed back into my dark lair of writer solitude. … YOUR WARM WEATHER WEEKEND HITLIST
Okay, so the holidays have come to a close and let’s be honest – we’re all feeling a bit meh about it. Plus, we’re presently experiencing a level of cold that I can only accurately equate to being fully embalmed alive in pure liquid nitrogen.
Seriously, I can literally feel my body dying every millisecond that I am exposed to the District winter elements and there is no amount of layering that my fragile bones can find any remote semblance of comfort in.
Anyways… so the point is that this got me thinking…wouldn’t it be nice to have a list of insanely cozy establishments in the District that you could dart over to for a quick drink, get-together or an afternoon of remote work? … WARM UP THOSE LOVELY BONES WITH THESE COZY DISTRICT HOTSPOTS
A lot of times, the only interest we have in developments is the finishing touches – -the breaking ground of a new project or the demolishing and refurbishing of a redevelopment. It goes without saying, though, that those moments are not the whole story. There is a lot of fight that goes on without the rallying cry of public interest to push it forward. The redevelopment I wanted to cover today, of Georgetown’s West Heating Plant, was first brought to the table in 2013. For reference, that’s when Macklemore was singing about Thrift Shops and Miley Cyrus was hell bent on killing her Disney princess image by way of a foam finger. If you’ve buried those memories, you’re not alone, and the point is simple: it’s been a while. … DC DEVELOPMENT(S): GEORGETOWN WEST HEATING PLANT PROPOSAL
Did you know that there are many dolphins living nearby, in the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay? Researchers from the Potomac-Chesapeake Dolphin Project (PCDP) have set out to better understand them. Dolphins have been sighted in the Potomac as far back as the 1800s and as far north as DC but many people are still unaware of their local presence. … GEORGETOWN’S PCDP RESEARCHES POTOMAC DOLPHINS
BRACE YOURSELF – BIBIBOP is taking over!
So Chipotle recently shut down its Southeast Asian restaurant chain, ShopHouse and a new kid on the block is moving in and taking over where Chipotle left off. After Chipotle yanked it’s chains for failing to generate sufficient revenue, BIBIBOP swooped in and bought up the leases to all of the fifteen locations nationwide. We’re not sure if you’ve heard of them – but they’re kind of a big deal. … BIBIBOP IS COMIN’ AT YOU FACE FIRST!
