DCers, it’s been a while since we have all been able to share a meal al fresco. Fear not, though, because the monster that was Winter 2018 is behind us –– it’s finally patio season. I doubt I even have to ask for amens after that long drudgery, but I’ll do it regardless. Can I get an amen?!
This is the first year in forever when I haven’t even been bothered by the fact that the air is so thick with pollen I have to consider how my outfits will match with the dusty yellow backdrop that is Spring in the District. In fact, I’ve considered gathering all of the pollen together in a big pollen pile (the way you do with leaves in the fall) and jumping in it right after I’ve hyped myself up on some Zyrtec. In other words, I’m pretty excited that the cold weather is a distant memory. … DRINK, EAT, AND BASK IN SUNSHINE (FINALLY): DC’S BEST PATIOS
There is never a bad time of the year for beer sipping. That’s what I love most about beer –– it’s versatile. Looking to warm up after a chilly day running around the streets of DC? Duck into a local joint and get yourself a porter, sure to warm you from the inside out. Sweating bullets after showing out-of-town guests around town in the heat of the summer? Slide into one of the area’s beer slingin’ bars and get a refreshing IPA. But while I love beer year-round, I must admit, we’re coming up on prime beer drinking season: Spring. When the weather finally gives way, lets us all out of homes, and hovers nicely around 75 degrees if only for a moment so we can sip a brewski on a patio or in the middle of a beer garden. It’s a magical time for those who can appreciate a great pour. Luckily for the beer affectionados that call the District home, there are plenty of local brews to be had in these parts. … FINDING HOPPINESS: DC’S BEST BREWERIES
Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend clearly had never met me and seen the way I pine over something else entirely: vino. Sure, I love a little bling, but not the way I downright adore a lot of wine. I like it in red or white. I can dig a 2-buck Chuck just as much as I can swirl around a $18 glass and pretend I know what tannins are and why they make me question my life choices the next day. But, no matter how bad the headache or how deep the holes in my pocket are, I always come back for another pour (a heavy one, preferably). And, the truth is, I’m not alone. … THE BEST PLACES TO WINE DOWN IN DC

It’s no secret that DC has a world-class, foodie-approved list of things that you could fill a Friday night with. It’s also no secret that the best of that list involves alcoholic beverages. But sometimes, you want a little something different. Sometimes you don’t want to drop in at the neighborhood watering hole that is generous enough to offer PBR and a shot of house vodka for $5.00. Sometimes Tinder seems both mentally exhausting and indicative of having one finger that is just way more overworked than the others. Sometimes you want to swipe left on what you know and try something a little different. Enter DC’s speakeasy scene. … HUSH, HUSH: DC’S BEST SPEAKEASIES
