5 DECOR PIECES FROM TARGET TO SPRUCE UP YOUR SPACE

Oh, Target –– or as some so fondly say with their noses turned upward, oh, Targét. In reality, Target is kind of like a mecca for all of humankind. A safe place. It’s what I imagine Judy Garland was thinking of when she longed for “somewhere over the rainbow.” An answer to John Lennon’s “Imagine,” where people of all styles, budgets, and backgrounds are living life in peace….

Perhaps an exaggeration, but barely. Target is really a fairly common experience for everyone. Most people can relate to going in there, determined to pick up laundry detergent and laundry detergent alone, only to come out with four types of trail mix, a decorative metal llama, a book they’d never heard of before, socks, a new perspective on life, and a lot less left in their savings account. But if you can resist the lure of odds and ends and stay focused on a mission, Target is still a great place for fashionable finds that look more expensive than they truly are –– or, in order words, Target has a lot of hidden treasures.

They’ve especially got a lot of unique home décor and furniture items, with their recent ploy to work wit world renowned fashion designers and decorators to create elevated, modern brands at an accessible price point. Here are a few things that you can get to spruce up your space (and stick to your budget) in Target right now….

Okay, it might be cheating to count Target’s entire collection of accent pillows as one item, but for real, how could I pick just one? There’s a fit for practically every style imaginable, ranging from funky and bold to vintage-inspired to traditional to bohemian. There’s also a variety of  square pillows and lumbar throws so that you can get the exact mix of texture, shape, and style that suits your home the best.

If you have yet to invest in the bar cart trend, let me try and sell you on it. First of all, bar carts make your liquor super accessible. I’m not sure more needs to be said on that point. Beyond that however, they’re a fun way to add your own stylish touch. Think of stacking books that your prettiest bottles can sit atop, or mixing in some framed art amongst the top shelf. Or, if liquor is not your thing, bar carts can also make super fun, non-traditional plant stands –– the more overgrown, the better!

I’m pro-wallpaper –– and that’s a hard stance. I mean, what else can instantly transform a room? Plus, gone is the wallpaper of the past that was more of a commitment then getting a dog. The revolution of peel and stick means that once you’re over it, it can easily be over. The wallpaper selection at Target is all fun, but this print in particular brings a tropical, vintage, and fun feel into any room.

4.) Menlo Asterisk Ceiling Light – Project 62

Lighting always matters. And isn’t a handful of bulbs better than one? This ceiling light could bring modern spunk to almost any space, taking a room from bland to interesting at the flick of a switch. Plus, more lighting is never a bad thing…

5.) Green Patterned Woven Area Rug by Threshold

I believe that buying rugs can be just as addicting as getting tattoos. Once you start, you can’t stop. The problem is, rugs wear out over time…and those things are expensive! Target offers a pretty wide, moderate quality variety that serve the purpose well – adding warmth and texture to rooms everywhere. This particular green rug packs a cozy but fun punch.

Of course, even online, the pull of Target is a strong one. There are many more gems to find if you choose to peruse. Plus,  they are constantly coming out with new, affordable, and on-trend selections. Pro tip: If you add a random bin of trail mix and some socks to your cart from home, there’s no one there to judge…
